Texas Hold’em No Limit Strategy
For Hold’em no limit poker it is essential to
follow the right strategy, have tactical skills and have
knowledge about the human nature. The two most important
rules you have to follow in order to become a successful
poker player:
• always follow your own strategy and
• find out the strategy of your opponents
Each player differs concerning it’s readiness to
asume a risk. Categorical we distinguish between four
different kinds of poker players: conservative-passive,
conservative-aggressive, slack-passive and slack-aggressive.The
distinction between conservative and slack is made out
of the criteria how many hands you play. The distinction
between aggressive and passive is based on the tendency
if a player also acts in an aggressive way with bad cards
and how a player behaves concerning his betting and calling
tendency.
Now you will find the right solutions to play against
the player types mentioned above:
Opponent is concervative-passive:
• bluff after the flop: raise during the preflop
in order to win the pot immediately after the flop
• fold if you fear a strong hand of your opponent::
a conservative-passive player bets and raises not in
vain! Act with caution, especially if the opponent raises
in a radical way.
• Don’t distend bluffing and play the game
in a stable way. If you distend your bluffs, even the
most stupid opponent will realise your strategy. Play
in a solid way with sometimes bluffing and folding if
your fear a strong hand of your opponent.
Opponent is slack-passive:
A slack passive player won’t surprise you by raising
stakes, but he will call most of the time awaiting a
bluff of his opponents. I don’t have to go in
detail that this strategy won’t be successful
on the long run.
If you play against such an opponent, always raise if
you have good cards, but not too much because there
is always the danger of scaring the opponent away. Many
poker players make the mistake, that they act the same
way if their opponent is slack-passive. The most important
thing is to follow your strategy and to go through with
it!
Opponent is slack-aggressive:
Slack-aggressive players are much more dangerous than
slack-passive ones. They try to find the right moment
and if there is a real big pot they try to attack. Certainly
those players also lose big amounts if they fail, but
if they have a strong hand and there is a big pot, they
raise all-out. Playing against such opponents requires
a huge amount of money in order to be able to go and
defy them. The most important thing is that you don’t
fear the opponent and to act if you have a strong hand.
If a slack-aggressive player recognises that the other
players retract if he raises, he is able to bluff arbitrary.
Opponent is conservativ–aggressive:
Those players look for tables where they find conservative
opponents. If there are opponents who always call, this
strategy does’t make a sence. The fundamental
idea behind this strategy is, to get pots by raising
and fearing the other players so that they will fold.
For a single person it’s difficult to do something
against such an opponent. The best strategy is to follow
the same strategy, because if two or more players act
conservative-aggressive the opponent does not get the
pots “for free”.
