Poker tips – Texas Holdem – beginning the game

At the beginning of the game, each player has to place a particular ammount on the table, which is called “buy in” or “bring in”.This table stakes have to be on the table all the time, and each player has to be able to see it. Table stakes also don’t have to be replaced ahead of time.

Between the rounds, the players have the right to buy more chips.
At each poker version, there are at least two betrounds, and depending on the poker version, cards get dealed hidden or uncovered.There are also differences between the poker versions in the starting procedure, which differs in which player acts first.

The player who starts can decide between two options:

• check: the player does not bet
• bet: the player bets depending on the poker version a particular stake in the pot

If the first player decides to check, the following player has the right to bet or check again.

As soon as a player bets, the following players can decide between:

• call: bet the same amount
• raise: increase the stake in the pot
• fold: fold the game by giving the cards away without showing them

The whole thing continues as long, as all players made a call or fold.It’s not possible for a player who did the raise, to reraise his own stake when nobody else raised in the meantime.
Until the last betround, there are often restrictions concerning the limits and the number of allowed raises.
