Poker strategies - Texas Hold’em explanation – main features of the game
At the beginning of the game each player gets two covered cards, the so called pocket- or hole cards. This cards are kept by each player and may not be seen by anybody else.Now there are 5 cards dealt in the center of the table, which are called community cards.The poker players try to form the best hand consisting 5 cards out of their own two cards and the community cards.
The community cards are called:
Flop
first three cards that get dealt
Turn
Fourth card which is dealt
River
The fifth and last card that get’s dealt
After the flop is dealt, the first bet round starts. After the first betround the turn get’s dealt and the second bet round starts.
In each bet round, the poker players have the chance to check, call, raise, re-raise and fold. After the last betround the showdown starts.
In order to form the best poker hand, there are three possible ways:
- you take both hand cards and three community cards
- you take one hand card an four community cards
- you ignore your own cards and use only all 5 community cards
But keep in mind that all players have the same access to the community cards!
